LABORATORY
WHAT IS INCI?
INCI stands for "International Nomenclature of Cosmetic Ingredients" and indicates precisely a denomination of the ingredients contained in cosmetic products, listed in descending order by concentration within a product.
COSMETICS TESTING AND SAFETY
WHAT ARE THE SAFETY TESTS TO CARRY OUT ON A COSMETIC PRODUCT?
Cosmetics are subject to various safety tests before being placed on the market, among which we mention:
  • Microbiological analysis.
  • Stability Test + Compatibility Test
  • Challenge Test or In-USE Test.
WHAT IS THE CHALLENGE TEST?
The Challenge test makes it possible to evaluate the effectiveness of the preservative system of a cosmetic product during production and storage, but above all during the entire period of use by the final consumer. It is carried out during the development phase of the product itself.
WHAT IS PAO? MUST ALL COSMETICS CARRY PAO?
The PAO is the "Period after Opening", i.e. the date up to which the cosmetic product, after its opening and stored in suitable conditions, will continue to perform its initial function, will maintain its characteristics and will guarantee the health and safety of the user.
The PAO symbol may not be indicated on the packaging of some cosmetics which naturally do not present a concrete risk of alterations and which is therefore considered insignificant, such as:
  • Single-dose cosmetics;
  • Cosmetics with packaging which ensures protection of the product contained therein and which therefore allows the prevention of potential contamination (for example aerosols);
  • Products considered to have a low risk of contamination which by their nature are able to contrast and prevent the growth of microorganisms (for example products with a high alcohol content or characterized by a very acidic or very basic pH, or even products with a low presence of " free water").
WHO IS THE PERSON RESPONSIBLE FOR PLACING A PRODUCT ON THE MARKET?
The Responsible Person is a natural or legal person who is responsible or who has been designated for placing a cosmetic product on the EU market, and can therefore be represented by:
  • the manufacturer;
  • a person designated by the manufacturer;
  • the distributor, if he places a cosmetic product on the market with his own name or brand;
  • the importer;
  • a third party in possession of a written mandate from the manufacturer or the importer.
The customer can therefore represent or choose the Responsible Person, who will appear as Producer on the labels on the primary and secondary pack. The Responsible Person is obliged to ensure the following:
  • product safety;
  • label conformity;
  • registration of cosmetic products on the CPNP, i. e. the Cosmetic Product Notification Portal, to which all information on the product can be transmitted.
In the event that the customer turns out to be the manufacturer, INUNUP provides all kinds of assistance, support and documents to manage the practices with competence and accuracy.
WHAT IS THE PIF?
The PIF is the acronym for Product Information File, i.e. the product technical dossier which includes the Cosmetic Product Safety Assessment.
INUNUP can prepare the PIF on behalf of the customer, or provide all the necessary documents to the person appointed by the customer.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO MAKE A COSMETICS LINE?
